Dear Parents,
I trust you are all well and are looking forward for the reopening of school. As you are aware, we are still going through a pandemic that has impacted all of us. The severity of the pandemic has had a negative effect on the education system. Many students have not been in a classroom since March 11, 2020. The learning loss for our students are reflected in almost all our students’ performance. Nevertheless, we must press on do the best we can for students.
In an effort to have all our parents informed as to how we will be operating this academic year 2021-2022, we will be having three grade PTA meetings from September 6-8, 2021 at 5:30 pm. Please see the links for the meetings below. You are to attend the meeting for your child’s grade.

Classes will start on September 9, 2021 at 8:00 am. Grades 2-6 students will continue to use their soutboroughprimary.edu.jm email and password from last year. That email will allow them to access their Google Classroom. Parents of Grade 1 students will get their child’s email address and password in a special meeting with their Class Teacher.
By now you would be aware that classes at our school will be online until, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information gets the go ahead from the Ministry of Health and Wellness for face to face class. That review is promised to be done by late September. In the meantime, I recommend that you ensure your child has a reliable tablet, laptop or desk top to access the Google Classroom platform.
The seriousness of our time requires that we all play our part in looking out for our family and by extension our community. Let us do all we can to curtail the spread of covid-19. Please note that if adults do not play the critical role of stopping the spread, our children will continue to be out of school thus impacting their education. Please play your part in helping to defeat covid-19.
